We are extremely proud to announce that Nitrito Valdarno di Sopra Cabernet Sauvignon DOC
2021 and Alessandro dal Borro Valdarno di Sopra Syrah DOC 2020 have both been awarded 97
points by the renowned wine critic James Suckling.
Alessandro dal Borro Valdarno di Sopra Syrah DOC 2020 is a 100% Syrah produced from Il Borro highest-altitude vineyard, distinguished by its schistose, rocky soils. Aged for 24 months in French oak barriques, this wine displays a bold personality from the outset, with its deep ruby hue, followed by aromas of black cherry and black pepper, sandalwood and cloves. Velvety, refined tannins and a remarkably long finish complete its elegant profile.
Nitrito Valdarno di Sopra Cabernet Sauvignon DOC 2021 is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from a biodynamically farmed vineyard, where draft horses are used for ploughing to promote greater soil aeration. The entire winemaking process—from fermentation through the 24-month ageing period—takes place in oak barrels. The result is a wine of deep, almost impenetrable purple colour, offering refined aromas of cassis and balsamic herbs, enriched by notes of spice and cedarwood. Its firm yet elegant tannins, together with a vibrant, refreshing acidity, make for a sophisticated and captivating wine.
These outstanding scores represent a highly significant recognition of Il Borro’s ongoing commitment to showcasing the unique character and excellence of single-varietal wines.
