IL BORRO CHARDONNAY VALDARNO DI SOPRA DOC 2024 – 96 PUNTI BIS

It is with great joy that we can disclose that Il Borro Chardonnay Valdarno di Sopra DOC has been awarded a score of 96/100 not by one, but by two renowned wine critics: both James Suckling and Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast taster for Italy, have chosen to give 96 points to the latest white wine produced by Il Borro.

Il Borro Chardonnay, the newest addition to Il Borro’s range of labels, was born from the desire to take on the challenge of creating a great white wine — one that combines structure and aromatic complexity with pleasantness and ease of drinking, for a truly well-rounded sensory experience. To describe it, there is no better way than relying on the words of the critics who have awarded it.

“Attractive aromatics of jasmine, honeysuckle and hints of other white flowers, as well as pears and apples. Medium-bodied with lovely phenolics and a serious finish. The complex, reductive character develops with air and gives a minerally, oyster-shell undertone. Could be a new standard for chardonnay in Tuscany. From organically grown grapes. Drink now or hold.” James Suckling

“Italian Chardonnay has been good for a while, and lately it has been getting even better, but there is probably only one example I can point to as a wine I want to drink any time of any day, and it’s very unexpectedly I might add–the Chardonnay from Il Borro. Lithe but powerful, salty and substantial, it always leaves me wanting more.” Danielle Callegari
