Environment and Biodiversity

CO2 Absorption

The approximately 800 hectares of unspoiled woodland within the Estate act as a true green lung, absorbing around 13,860 tons of CO₂ each year. This remarkable carbon absorption plays a key role in the fight against global warming. The careful and sustainable management of this forest heritage enhances its effectiveness, making the woodland one of the most valuable tools for protecting the environment, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring the well-being of future generations.

Energy self-sufficiency

The photovoltaic systems installed across the estate generate an average of 2.4 GWh of electricity per year, covering approximately 39% of Il Borro’s total energy needs. Thanks to this renewable energy, significant CO₂ emissions are avoided compared to the use of non-sustainable sources.

Zero Energy Bills

At Il Borro, we call them “Zero Bill Homes”, buildings with extremely high energy efficiency, powered exclusively by renewable sources such as geothermal energy. They are equipped with solar panels and air-to-water heat pumps, providing heating, cooling, and domestic hot water. A full thermal insulation system ensures optimal thermal and acoustic comfort, significantly reducing energy consumption for superior living quality.
