Polissena
Valdarno di Sopra DOC
Polissena is an act of love toward one of Tuscany’s most representative grape varieties: Sangiovese. The vineyard from which it is produced has a schist soil with excellent drainage, perfect for this varietal. It is an elegant wine that surprises with its determined yet refined character.
The product
The 2020 vintage was characterized by a dry and mild winter, followed by a spring with quite high temperatures until the end of May, interrupted by a series of copious downpours in June, which gave way to a very hot summer. A few thunderstorms at the beginning of September led to a fairly early harvest, resulting in excellent quality of the gathered grapes.
Food Pairings
Tuscan meat specialties, Tuscan croutons (crostini toscani), aged cheeses, cured meats, and game-based first and main courses. Particularly recommended with hare, wild boar, Chianina beef, and Cinta Senese pork.
