The family

The Beginning of a Dream

Ferruccio Ferragamo was just six years old when his parents purchased an agricultural estate in the Valdarno. Growing up in the shadow of the Pratomagno mountains, immersed in authentic rural traditions and the rhythms of nature, he quickly developed a deep love for the countryside and for hunting. It was during a hunt in 1985 that Ferruccio first discovered and fell in love with Il Borro, then owned by Duke Amedeo of Aosta. In 1993, he decided to acquire the estate. Since then, with passion and dedication, he has brought to life a remarkable restoration project that has transformed Il Borro into a place of excellence, where history, hospitality, winemaking, and sustainability come together.

A Growing Legacy

Today, Il Borro looks to the future with renewed energy, led by Salvatore and Vittoria Ferragamo, Ferruccio’s children, who share their father’s vision and honour the spirit of the place, with a focus on the present. Together, they embody continuity with a fresh perspective, while strengthening the bond between Il Borro, its heritage, and a world in constant evolution.
