The Doc

The region

Valdarno di Sopra is located on the right bank of the Arno river, in the area between Florence and Arezzo. It is a region with a long history and a centuries-old vocation for producing outstanding wines. As early as 1716, the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III, included it in the edict that identified the most suitable areas for the production of quality wine.

Cosimo III's edict

The edict identified four main areas: Chianti Classico (in the areas of Panzano and Greve), Carmignano (west of Florence), Pomino (east of Florence), and Valdarno di Sopra (the area where Il Borro is located). The Valdarno di Sopra DOC was officially established in 2011, certifying the exceptional value of a region that, since the Renaissance, has been considered ideal for the production of great wines.

Valdarno di Sopra Doc wines

The wines of the Valdarno di Sopra DOC fully express the balance and elegance of this territory. The reds are known for their structure, richness, and varietal notes, shaped by the influence of the foothill microclimate. The whites are remarkable for their aromatic intensity and freshness, enhanced by strong temperature variations. Each wine tells the story of a deep bond between grape variety and land.
